What a beautiful frog!
Carved by hand from boxwood, this frog has a delightful orange red tone to the wood. The frog has long and very decorative toes.
You might be wondering what a Netsuke frog is... so I did some research for you. Netsuke figurines were developed in 17th century Japan to attach personal items to a person's belt because the traditional clothing worn during that period was the kimono and it had no pockets.
Netsuke figurines have a small hole (tunnel) carved through it so that you can attach it onto the cord from the bag containing your personal items. Then you simply slide the netsuke underneath the belt and loop it under the cord to obtain a secure fastening.
This frog figurine has a small cord tunnel carved into its belly so that you too can wear it the traditional way, or you can just find a nice place for it on your shelf as a beautiful piece of artwork.
Comes in a plain white giftbox.
