1940's to present
Size:  varies
Description:
This is my collection of frog scrubbies dating 1940s to the present.  Most are from the 1970s.  I acquired them at garage sales and flea markets for the most part, a few on eBay too.  My favorite ones are the really ugly colored garish colors from the 70s like lime green drizzled in orange, brown and neon blue.
Stan wrote to say he'd bought this frog at an estate sale, and was wondering if anyone knew what it was or how much it was worth. On the bottom, it says "Froggie, reg US Patent, Nov 16 1920".( Please reply to froggie@frogstore.com if you have info on this, and we'll post it here.)

Jason S. writes: When I was a kid my aunt had one of these. It was for holding those brillo pads and metal scrubbing sponges by the sink. It kept them from leaving rust spots on your sink when they were left there wet. She stuffed them in the frog's mouth and they dried there until needed next time!

Donna Heuer's Christmas tree was featured in her local newspaper. She had decorated it with about 200 frog ornaments that she's collected over the years!
Pic70268.jpg (49692 bytes) How do you like the Frog Store's new license plate? Did you notice that it doesn't say FROGGY, it says "FRQGGY"? This is a cool trick if you've been wanting a frog personalized plate but all the good names are taken, because the "Q" looks just like an "O" from even a short distance!

Bought on Ebay
Date:
Made in 1948

Froggy the Gremlin starred in the "Andy's Gang" TV show in the 1950's. I didn't realize until a fellow collector sent me a picture, that Froggy was my very first frog! I was about 5 years old. Mine had only one foot left, and his name was "Come-And-Buy, Have-A-Try" (go figure...). Anyway, my mother threw him out long ago, but I found a replacement on Ebay for my collection. Want more info? There's a great Froggy the Gremlin site at www.angelfire.com/ny/nyuk/froggy.html . Enjoy!

Collector: Tammy
Artist: Ironik Studio
Location:  St-Eustache, Canada

The reason I got this tattoo is because I love frogs. I had 2 pet frogs but unfortunately they passed away. I have many frog items - stuffed animals, figurines, candle holders, wind up frogs etc.

Tattoo: Escher Frog
Collector: Kathryn N.
Location:  Seattle WA
Comments:
I have been a fan of frogs since I was a VERY little girl. I was the girl who came back to the house covered head to toe in mud but had a shirt full of frogs. I was never allowed to keep them but it shows some of my love for frogs. I am definitely known to many as the "Frog Lady". My entire house is covered with frogs. I wanted to show this tattoo because I waited and worked on it for 2 years. It was drawn from a M.C. Escher picture of a dehydrated frog. But I didn't want him dead looking so my frog is a little less dehydrated (We still used the same bone and rib structure) but still clinging on for life (to my foot). He has his nails dug in as well as his joints buried into my skin. I LOVE this tattoo and love to show it off proudly. I didn't have it colored in with more than a magenta wash because I thought it was neat to make him look like he is camouflaged.

Tattoo: Tree Frog
Collector: L. McGuire
Location:  Kissimee, FL
Comments:
I am an avid Frog collector, so I decided to get this guy on my family vacation in Florida in June 2002.  It is located on my left shoulder. My son has 2 pet frogs, and I have approximately 50+ frogs in my garden, 150+ plush frogs, and around 75+ frog figurines.  I also have about 150 miscellaneous knick-knacks that are frogs.

Tattoo: Red-Eyed Tree Frog
Location:  Portland, OR
Comments:
This fine froggy tattoo was spotted on one of the bicyclists at the annual Portland Bridge Ride. He posed for a picture, but then took off before we found out who he was. It's located on his right calf, and is about 5" tall.
Tattoo: Blue Frog
Collector: Lisa B. K.
Location:  I am originally from Dowagiac, MI.
Comments:
Here is a picture of my frog tattoo. I am only 20 but my collection already consists of 200 or more from all over. I think I inherited my love of frogs from my grandmother, who uses them as good luck while playing bingo. I had them do this tattoo just for me. Now I always have a frog friend sitting on my foot.
